OJJDP State Representative: Provides assistance to help
states and local governments achieve the system improvement goals
of the JJDP Act, adhere to the core requirements of the JJDP Act,
implement delinquency prevention programs, support initiatives
to hold juvenile offenders accountable for their actions, and combat
underage drinking. State Representatives also administer formula
and other block grants; support and coordinate community efforts
to identify and respond to critical juvenile justice and delinquency
prevention needs; monitor state and other grantee compliance; and
provide technical assistance to their assigned states.
Juvenile Justice Specialist: Administers OJJDP's Formula
and Block Grants program, which provides grants to states to prevent
and curb delinquency. Each state appoints a JJ Specialist to administer
this program and to help develop the state's 3-year juvenile justice
plan as required by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
Act of 1974, as amended. JJ Specialists work through State Planning
Agencies.
State Planning Agency: Carries out the requirements of
the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as
amended.
State Advisory Group (SAG): Assists states in developing
and implementing the juvenile justice plans that they submit
to OJJDP every 3 years. SAGs are appointed by the state's Chief
Executive Officer and consist of not less than 15 and not more
than 33 members with training, experience, or other special knowledge
regarding the prevention and treatment of juvenile delinquency
and the administration of juvenile justice.
DMC Coordinator: Organizes the planning, implementation,
and evaluation of efforts to reduce disproportionate minority
contact (DMC) in the juvenile justice system. In addition to
these responsibilities, the State DMC Coordinator supports the
DMC subcommittee of the State Advisory Group. Most state coordinators
also support and monitor DMC reduction efforts at the local level,
but some states may have local coordinators who aid the local
DMC coalition and organize the planning, implementation, and
evaluation of DMC reduction efforts at that level.
JABG Coordinator: Administers the Juvenile Accountability
Block Grants (JABG) program at the state level, provides oversight
of the program at the local level, and is OJJDP's primary state
contact for the program.
Title V Coordinator: Administers OJJDP's Title V Community
Prevention Grants Program at the state level, provides support
and monitoring of the program at the local level, and is the
state's primary contact for the program. Not all states have
Title V Coordinators; in these cases, contact the state's Juvenile
Justice Specialist.
FACJJ Member: The Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice
(FACJJ) advises the President and Congress on matters related to
juvenile justice, evaluates the progress and accomplishments of
juvenile justice activities and projects, and advises the OJJDP
Administrator on the work of OJJDP.
EUDL Coordinator: Coordinates state and local activities under OJJDP's Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program, which combats the use of alcoholic beverages by minors.
