- Between 1985 and 2005, the total number of delinquency cases handled by juvenile courts increased 46%.
- During this period, the number of drug offense cases increased 153%, public order offense cases increased 146%, and person offense cases increased 133%. In comparison, the number of property offense cases declined 15%.
- Compared with 1985, the 2005 delinquency caseload contained greater proportions of person (25% versus 16%), drugs (12% versus 7%), and public order (28% versus 17%) offense cases and a smaller proportion of property (35% versus 61%) offense cases.
