The purpose of this program is to demonstrate standards of excellence and best practices in the enhanced role of school resource officers as leaders in planning and maintaining a safe school environment. Topics covered include: leadership role of the SRO in developing and implementing a safe school plan, critical incident planning, school security, information sharing, identification and utilization of risk and protective factors, and legal issues. Length of program is 4-1/2 days.
Target audience: This training is open to law enforcement officers who serve in the role as school resource officer, school liaison officer, or who otherwise work with schools in his or her community and their educational counterpart (principal, assistant principal, dean of students). Priority consideration is given to SRO's who plan to attend the program with their school counterpart (principal, assistant principal, dean of students). |
